Stanmore Natural HealthWe believe that every patient is unique with their own health issues and goals which require an individualised treatment plan. We aim to help you to manage your health naturally.
Our drug-free approach uses natural therapeutic treatments in the hands of highly qualified practitioners. This combination of expertise and technique has shown some very exciting results for our patients. This website has a lot of information that can help your to manage your health naturally. However, if you do make an appointment at Stanmore Natural Health - and we hope you do - you might be able to see for yourself how the success of this natural approach continues to enthuse and motivate us!
Our approach to practice is simple. Your practitioner will listen to your concerns, provide a detailed examination and then discusses treatment options with you. When you have agreed upon a treatment plan then we work as a team with you to address your symptoms, to return you to your optimal health and to create strategies that will keep you healthy. This plan might make use of one or more natural therapies such as:
- Chiropractic - to remove unwanted pressures on your nervous system, removing localised or referred pain
...read more
- Nutrition – to use diet and prescribed specific supplement to treat and prevent disease
...read more
- Bowen Therapy - a system of muscle and connective tissue therapy stimulating the body to heal itself
...read more
- Remedial Massage – for pain relief, mental relaxation and treating injuries
We feel that treating the symptom alone is not the solution, since the underlying causes remain in place and may do more damage. Instead, we think that being naturally healthy is about taking the time to:
- Identify the underlying causes
- Agree with you on a suitable treatment plan
- Provide you with an effective way of staying healthy into the future

The weather is (mostly) feeling like spring. Ok, this long weekend is expected to be rainy but right now there is sunshine out my window. This makes me, and many other people, happy. It also motivates us to get active, get healthy, get outside - which is all good.
In a month, that motivation is often gone. Normal routine seems to have returned and we wonder what happened to our spring plans. So, here are some ideas on how to stay motivated in your healthy happy new lifestyle.
Starting something new - whether it be a healthier eating plan, more relaxation or some exercise - usually shows some progress, some improvement in our lives and that can create more motivation and momentum all by itself.
Here are six steps to help even more:
Not everyone is filled with motivation to be healthier just because it is spring. If you feel you are just too busy for healthy changes then consider the concept of the MINIMUM EFFECTIVE DOSE. That is, what small change could you make that is small enough to fit into your life but big enough to have an effect - the minimum effective dose.
Stanmore Natural Health is now on Facebook and Twitter. We'll be posting links to interesting articles and offering last-minute special offers.
We noticed that our chiropractic patients come in the afternoons and evenings - leaving Philip and Rachael lonely in the mornings!
So, we got together with Cafe Perci to offer you chiropractic, coffee and cake in the mornings.
The details - have your chiropractic appointment on a weekday before 12noon and we'll give you a voucher for Cafe Perci.
Even healthcare should be fun. Come in for chiropractic and get your coffee and cake.
‘In an underdeveloped country, don’t drink the water; in a developed country, don’t breathe the air.’
Changing Times magazine
1 in 4 Australians get hay fever.
1 in 6 Australians have severe allergies.
The average set of lungs has 9000L of air to filter each day.
Think of all the pollution in the air you breathe.
An anti-histamine is not enough by itself because it doesn’t change anything. Some temporary relief perhaps. At the cost of long term aggravation of your immune system.
What is Bowen therapy?
The Bowen Technique is a dynamic system of muscle and connective tissue therapy that was developed in Australia. It utilizes subtle inputs to the body (known as moves), stimulating the body to heal itself, often profoundly.
The Bowen Technique offers tremendous benefit to clients. It can provide relief for many types of injuries and other health problems, both acute and chronic, and it does so holistically, via the body's innate healing mechanisms. The practitioner's moves deliver signals to the nervous system at specific locations (on muscles, tendons, ligaments, or nerves), and the body responds in its own time, within its capacity. While there are exceptions, Bowen Technique is appropriate for people of all ages, in all degrees of health.
Our wonderful remedial massage and Bowen therapist, Natalie, is extending her hours to include Thursdays. For everyone who has experienced Natalie's wonderful treatments (and had trouble finding an appointment as she is in such demand), this comes as very good news indeed.
Call the clinic on 9560 1070 to make an appointment with Natalie on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.
This research about the link between higher fibre intakes and lower breast cancer risk is not clean cut and easy. It does not say that if you eat lots of healthy fibre that you will not get breast cancer. What it does say is that if you eat lots of fibre, you are less likely to get breast cancer than someone who eats very little fibre.
I think, instead of throwing studies like these out the window, we should use it as another reason (do we really need more reasons?) to eat a diet with lots of healthy fibre from fruit and vegetables. With all the other benefits that have been suggested to derive from this sort of a diet (decreased risk of a number of cancers, including colon, weight management, better skin, etc) it really should be a no-brainer.

Why don't you have some extra vegetables today?
This article is great for explaining what the glycemic index is, how it works and why it is time to move on.
Glycemic index looks at the effect foods have on our blood sugar levels but doesn't say anything about the "health" of the food.
As always, reducing processed, sugary foods (no matter what sort of sugar) will help make your diet healthier!
